Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio was one of the most important artists and innovators in the history of art after the great Renaissance masters. Rome was the city where, thanks to the support of important clients, Caravaggio was able to create his masterpieces. Many of them are in museums, but some are still in the original locations, in some churches, among the richest of works of great artists, churches that sometimes are almost hidden among the dark alleys, where once lived the common people, like the one that the great artist represented in his religious works: the great solemnity of subjects joining the everyday reality.
